About Road2SoS

Development of strategic research and engineering roadmaps in Systems of Systems Engineering and related case studies

Road2SoS is a 25-month support action co-funded under the European Community's 7th Framework Programme aiming at developing strategic roadmaps in the field of System-of-Systems Engineering (SoSE) and their application in the industrial context.

In Road2SoS, coordinated by Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, 7 partners from 4 European countries (France, Germany, Spain and UK) dedicated themselves:
- to analyse the current status of the young and emerging field of SoSE
- to elaborate roadmaps for its future development and applications, and
- by this to identify opportunities for the EU future research strategies.

The emerging System-of-Systems (SoS) concept describes the large scale integration of many independent self-contained systems to satisfy global needs or multi-system requests. The increasing number of interacting systems in our strongly connected society and industry as well as the growing overall complexity of systems have triggered a paradigm shift and the need to enhance the classical view of Complex System Engineering towards SoS Engineering.
